29 Kansas City Mo Nov 15. 1885Dear sister Mary: -Your letter was a great pleasure to me. I can hardly tell why best your kind [expressions?] seem to have the effect of lifting my heart [illegible] had posted under such depressing circumstances and when I was feeling so incapable of doing anything for your comfort during your trip that I had a sad feeling every time I thought of you, which was frequent. Consequently I just needed your letter. I am so glad that after all your visit [deleted: in all] did you good and you are now so comfortable. May it continue. How good you are to think of giving the pretty paintings to me. I can hardly wait to see them. I wish I could make something pretty for you, maybe I will sometime. I shall not write a long letter this time as I am tired and it is getting dark. I have been [in margin: writing and arranging flowers of the funeral nearly all afternoon. I have made a little bouquett for nearly every member of the family and now enclose one for you. I have not sent John one but have sent him a beautiful [illegible] of Fathers [illegible] Have you a nice [illegible]? Remember us to Willis if he is home. Walter is away for a few days. Have not yet succeeded in [getting?] a [illegible], but have a boy come to do chores. Love to the little boys. Lovingly yours [Always?] Joanna]
