with me among the old glacier works & ways. I could have enjoyed a visit with him in San Francisco but I could not spare the time, He may come another year. I am able to do a great deal of very hard mountain exploration, & someday will if I like tell you how mountains & river Canons & lake basins & meadows are made My life work is now before me plain enough, & it is full of hard labor & abundant in all kinds of pure reward Nature-God asks much& gives much & if we only are pure in heart we will see him in all times, & in all lands. I will write you again when I return In the meantime, once more Farewell, with love to all Ever affectionately yrs John Muir
