from here & Seattle. some of them gathered on the Fraser The [illegible] boat rolled & heaved at a most extravagant rate — yesterday & the smell from the kitchen etc so compound & novel altogether made me a little sea-sick. It was calm or nearly so in the afternoon after entering the straits of F[illegible] & I curled up on the upper deck in a coil of rope back of one of the hatches & enjoyed a nap Good bye. Be patient. Heaven bless you. How you would enjoy this wild north scenery. Some day I will at least tell about it[in margin: Ever cordially yours John Muir]
