William and Maymie Kimes Annotation

""I have found it [Hetch Hetchy] one, of many Yosemite valleys, which differ not more than one pinetree differs from another. Attentive study and comparison of these throws a flood of light upon the origin of the Yosemite; uniting her, by birth with sister valleys distributed through all the principal river-basins of the range."" In this long essay, a rewrite of his first journey into the Hetch Hetchy (no. 19), Muir chronicles in masterful detail the striking similarities he finds between the between the two valleys.
