In the article entitled ""Overland for July"" are excerpts from no. 21, pp. 44-46, in which Muir describes his first View of the Valley. Prefacing the excerpts is the statement that the ""July number of the Overland is of unusual excellence."" After a listing of the table of contents with further comments, the conclusion is, ""... we think the most interesting paper in the number is that of John Muir in the Hetch-Hetchy Valley.""
