William and Maymie Kimes Annotation
On a trip to Yosemite in October, 1912, the author, a journalist, met and interviewed Muir, who was en route to a conference concering the admission of autos into the Park. Bartlett recounts much of Muir's conversation about his trips to Europe and South America, his writing The Story of My Boyhood and Youth, his Yosemite visit with President Roosevelt, and his views on botany, geology, and evolution, the latter being a humorous story.
