William and Maymie Kimes Annotation
William Keith and John Muir were devoted friends, exceedingly proud of their Scottish heritage. They frequently visited in each other's home and delighted in argumentative conversation, which was usually well-spiced with their keen sense of humor. They often traveled together, but when apart they always kept in touch with brief communications such as those in this volume.
