Esthetic Anterior Case
Presentation Category
Restorative (Direct/Indirect)
Introduction/Context/Diagnosis
My patient was very fearful of dentistry prior to her experience this year. She's been very shy about her smile since she's never felt comfortable with receiving routine dental care. After numerous consultations we decided on an overall treatment plan including periodontics, removable, endodontics, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry. This patient was overwhelming happy about her care and her perspective on dentistry has completely shifted throughout this treatment.
Methods/Treatment Plan
After consultation with numerous faculty we decided on an overall treatment plan tailored to this patients specific needs. Numerous restorative fillings, a RCT on #8, extractions, anterior crowns (#6 - #11), and removable procedures were performed.
Results/Outcome
Patient was incredibly satisfied with esthetic results and overall goal of maintaining as many of her teeth as we could (her original chief concern). I will present her stabilized maxillary arch, including #6 - #8 bridge and #9 - #11 crowns during excellence day.
Significance/Conclusions
This case was really important and significant for me. It showed me how important it is to make sure you're following the patient's chief concern (keeping as many teeth as we can) rather than following an "ideal treatment plan" that may not necessarily work with the patient. This was my first cosmetic case and I learned how much I love cosmetic dentistry through this experience.
