Introduction/Context/Diagnosis

This is a clinical case demonstrating primary endodontic treatment on #30. The case presented with mineralized canals and a diagnosis of pulp necrosis with symptomatic apical periodontitis.

Methods/Treatment Plan

Endodontic treatment was performed on #30. A dental operating microscope and various instruments were used to identify and negotiate the mineralized canals. Obturation was completed using the warm vertical condensation technique. The access was restored with composite buildup.

Results/Outcome

The patient reported cessation of symptoms shortly after the treatment was completed. The patient is currently awaiting a 6 month recall examination.

Significance/Conclusions

This case demonstrates that pulp canal obliteration can progress to pulpal necrosis. In addition, it shows that canals that appear to be severely mineralized can still be properly negotiated and instrumented with the aid of certain endodontic tools.
