Abstract
Projects, devices and activities for teaching of social science in the junior high schoolhas been compiled with the expectation that it will prove to "be truly a help to teachers in providing suitable material to help them in planning activity work in Social Science. If it is true that the writer has an abundant faith in the activity program, it is also true that she recognizes its limitations.
The material comprising this Thesis is the direct result of a number of years' experience on the part of the writer as a teacher of Social Science in a public Junior High. School. The material selected represents, on the whole, original work presented, planned, and executed by the writer and her classes. It is from these classes that the organization of this paper has been developed; it is upon the reactions of the pupils in these classes that considerable dependence has been placed in determining the content and its treatment, and it is to these classes that this Thesis owes much of whatever merit it may possess.
