Abstract
The problem is, "Does a need exist for an effective guidance program in the small high schools of the State of California?" This study is based on the data obtained from the State Department of Education, Division of Secondary Education, Sacramento, California, and is based on the October, 1948, reports of the principals of California high schools to the Department of Education, and on nine interviews with high school principals or guidance directors in the following schools: Sutter Creek, Jackson, Brete Hart, Linden, Galt, Sonora, Oakdale, Tuolumne, and Lodi.
