Abstract
Transgender individuals face significant societal stigma as a result of political and governmental targeting. These factors make their lives and livelihoods at risk. To combat this, media, in particular video games, have begun to adopt these narratives to bring light to transgender struggles and pains. This trend is what drove us to create our game, Ivy Leagues. By combining engaging gameplay with story driven "visual novel" segments, our game constructs a story that assists the viewer with empathizing with trans individuals. Players who interact with this game may not have interacted with someone within the transgender community, which provides us with a unique opportunity to introduce them to the issues transgender people face within their daily lives. This game explores frequent struggles transgender individuals face when socializing, participating in athletics, their self-image, and self-confidence. Our desired outcomes are to grow awareness of the struggles the transgender community face, educate those who have not heard of their struggles, and provide a satisfying gameplay experience.
