Abstract
Photoelasticity and its synergism with finite element method was incorporated in the curriculum to enhance mechanical engineering education. Two experiments were designed for the laboratory to illustrate applications of photoelasticity in stress analysis and students were encouraged to incorporate photoelastic testing in their term project. The teaching transmission polariscope and an optical null compensator were used for this work. This project has positively affected the learning of the users of the equipment.
