December 13 1892 - I have received a letter from Cpt. [captain] Bryan, Supt. Q. & Q. S. S. Co. to call up on him immediately, I did so and he informed me that I could take a trip in the steamer “Belgic” boat to Hong Kong via Yokahama, in the capacity of the stewardess if I desired. I did so wish and signed [articles] before returning home. The captain told me there would probably be few passengers out and not much to do and in case I was seasick to lie down and let the boys attend to the passengers.
