George Moscone represented San Francisco as their State Senator from 1967 to 1976. Known as an unapologetic liberal and an active lawmaker, Moscone was voted Outstanding Freshman Senator in 1967 and Most Effective Democratic Senator by the Capital Press Corps in 1969. Elected Democratic Floor Leader four times by his fellow senators, Moscone introduced bills on topics such as: school lunch programs, child nutrition, advertising, public employees, youth issues, collective bargaining, health laws, bilingual education, and marijuana law.
