Introduction/Abstract
There is a growing number of health-related programs at the University of the Pacific on the three campuses - in Stockton, San Francisco and Sacramento.
Purpose
With the goal of promoting research in the health disciplines at the university, we are launching a new journal.
Method
The Pacific Journal of Health (PJH) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the university. It publishes 4 issues per year in all fields of health, including business and economics of health, education in health disciplines, environmental health, health policy and law, community-based research, pharmacology and biomedical sciences.
Original papers and review articles are welcome. Accounts of clinical trials, results from music therapy, and biomarker studies related to human health are within the scope of the journal.
The journal allows free access (open access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any Open Archives Initiative compliant institutional/subject-based repository.
Results
The journal is already linked to Research Day in Stockton and Excellence Day in San Francisco. The first articles are available at: https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/pjh/
Significance
The main goal of the new journal is to increase the visibility of health research at the university and stimulate collaborations. This may be especially important now, given the growing number of new health-related programs at the university.
