Abstract

The collection of ceramic vessels represents my journey of self-discovery. Each piece acts as a symbol of personal development, combining shape, design, and meaning to tell my story. They are more than just objects—they are reflections of who I am.

Inspired by Japanese aesthetics, I use a limited palette of white surfaces and blue brushwork to convey a move toward simplicity, clarity, and stability. This minimal approach opens up space for reflection while highlighting balance and purpose in each piece.

Recurring symbolic motifs inspired by my upbringing and values are present throughout the work. The koi fish symbolizes perseverance and determination; bamboo stands for resilience and the ability to grow through adversity; the seigaiha (wave pattern) suggests continuity and good luck; and the sparrow reminds us to appreciate simplicity and every moment. Each symbol enriches a deeper visual language that reflects both personal history and guiding principles.

Through repetition, these motifs establish a cohesive narrative throughout the series. Each vessel becomes more than just a form or design; it also holds memory, meaning, and identity. Together, the works encourage reflection on how personal experience and cultural symbolism interconnect, shaping an ongoing process of becoming.
