Abstract/Artist Statement
Art has always been a big part of my life, whether that be painting gifts during the holidays or taking crayons to the walls for artistic expression. It seemed natural that as I transitioned throughout the years that my interest in the fine arts would turn to the digital world.
And yet, I feel myself being drawn in to keep one foot working in the world of physical fine print and the other online, which is perfect for my field of interest — specifically, books. My passion for books has never stopped and has sparked my intrigue towards publication and multi-page designs. I find that there is something special about working within Adobe InDesign to create seamless layouts that can tell a story unlike any other.
With the XPLOR: Brentwood, CA Travel Guide, during the chaos that was the epicenter of COVID-19, it seemed right to pay my respects to the place that had become my safe place for the majority of my quarantine. The goal of this travel guide was to serve as a reference for those currently living in, or more importantly, newcomers and travelers to the area. As a result, the overall design, layout, and color choices reflect the mindset of the target: inviting, refreshing, and exciting — something to make Brentwood, CA worth the stay,
