Abstract/Artist Statement
“Not all those who wander are lost.”
Nenki is a game about a forest-dwelling boy, with the same name, who appears to be lost, looking for answers. All that he knows is that there is a spirit in front of him that he must follow. Nenki does not know where his journey will take him, or what misfortune may befall him. However, he must overcome any obstacle that he may face to find out what it is he is chasing after.
The goal of Nenki was to create a game that steps away from the usual action or first-person shooter games that oversaturate the video game market now days and create something new. With Nenki we wanted to create something that had a nice aesthetic and told an appealing short story. Inspired by more aesthetic and narrative-driven games such as Journey, Nenki was meant to be a game that is an artistic experience backed by a story and its various elements. We were able to create an original soundtrack using software such as Logic. In addition, we were also able to make original models with the use of Blender.
Our presentation will be on the development process of the game as well as a quick demo setup on a laptop.
