Abstract/Artist Statement

This project is an investigation on formamidine ligand behavior in solution by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. It will shed light on the nature of these compounds, which has mostly been ignored in the past. These molecules exhibit unique behavior in solution that is limited to a few types of compounds. This project allows for a systematic study of the factors influencing their behavior. This study will bring about new knowledge in a previously neglected realm of chemistry through simple organic chemistry. This project is tailored for an undergraduate researcher to pursue requiring a foundation in organic chemistry and use of the chemistry department’s NMR spectroscopy facility.
