Abstract/Artist Statement
The University of the Pacific has an abundance of resources available to students on campus to promote wellness. PacWell’s mission is to provide students with opportunities to make sure wellness is an important part of their life. PacWell has synthesized all these resources and categorized them into 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Creating a mobile application will greatly enhance the accessibility of the resources PacWell provides to students. Currently, PacWell markets their events through flyers posted around campus. I believe the most effective platform to reach and engage students at this time is through a mobile application.
As the Outreach and Marketing Assistant for PacWell I have analyzed data collected for evaluation on programs and events that have been put on by PacWell. Data shows that poor student involvement lies within attendance and is unrelated to student interest. Furthermore, through these evaluations the results show that if students are involved then they gain what we would hope from these events.
Through my application, I hope to increase student involvement in taking charge of their own wellness. I believe that is application will provide a passive way for students to have access to resources at their fingertips. With a clean and user-friendly interface, I believe students will find reaching out to these resources and services much more accessible. The application will keep students up to date with upcoming events to improve student engagement in wellness activities. At Senior Project Day, I will be demoing a deployable version of my application that will be disseminated at freshmen orientation.
