Abstract/Artist Statement

The goal of our project is to create a mobile application for University of the Pacific students, faculty, and guests. Our application will localize student resources that are most commonly accessed. The application is created to run on the Android and iOS platforms. We used Xcode for iOS development, Eclipse for Android development, and SQLite for database management. We have provided users with quick access to Pacific Tigers Athletic scores, a database of courses offered based on terms, a database of all campus faculty and staff, campus email, a campus map with a listing of all buildings, campus news, a listing of campus resources with phone numbers and links, Sakai, and campus dining options. One of the features of the application is its ability to retrieve information for the user in a matter of a few button presses. It has been observed that most students do not have certain resources in their mobile device. For example, with three button presses the user is capable of calling campus security in emergency situations. We hope the application can become a useful part of student life at UOP.
