Abstract/Artist Statement
Up until now, the faculty at University of the Pacific has been casting their votes in faculty elections using the archaic method of exchanging emails and marking names on Portable Document Format (PDF) forms. With the implementation of my project, the Secure Electronic Voting Website, the difficulties associated with manually counting votes and coercing faculty members to vote will be mitigated. The proposed website provides a user-friendly interface for voting in an election from the comfort of one’s desk over the Internet. As the title suggests, the website will implement various preventative security measures, such as encrypting sensitive information stored on the server and preventing users from abusing and leveraging the system to gain an unfavorable advantage over the competition. The website is currently being developed using Microsoft’s ASP .NET Framework with C# as the server-side scripting language.
