Abstract/Artist Statement
Instead of focusing on the terrible events of 9/11, many complained that the NYPD did not communicate well with the Fire Department, causing confusion on the whereabouts of each group. The two groups were accused of operating from their own separate command centers, creating a glitch in communication between the two. The main issue that was brought up was that "the information relayed to police at street level by their counterparts in helicopters was not quickly passed along to fire officials (McKinley)." This caused problems, because the two were supposed to be working together, and this left on group completely blind of a situation for a few moments. Steps have taken by both organizations in order to assure that in the event of another terrorist attack or crisis, they are prepared to handle the situation in a more acceptable manner than before.
