Abstract

Please join us on November 16th in the Yosemite Classroom in the Library (1st floor) for a “What’s My Research?” presentation about Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Research at Pacific.

Leslie Bayers (Center for Teaching & Learning) will discuss the adaptability of varied research lenses to SoTL, as well as the potential for collaborative SoTL projects across disciplines. She will highlight examples of publications co-authored with Pacific colleagues and written in diverse genres to demonstrate a range of approaches to SoTL.

Deepti Vyas (Pharmacy) will present a summary of previous and upcoming SoTL projects in Pharmacy education, including a current project with Pacific colleagues around curricular streamlining.

Karen Sarafian (Benerd) will discuss a SoTL project integrating Action Research and Liberatory Design to address the complex challenge of equity in higher education. She will share the framing of her research question, student participation in the project, alignment of action research and Liberatory Design, data collection tools, and possible outcomes of this in-progress project.

Shelly Gulati (Engineering) will discuss two projects related to promoting sense of belonging and student success. The first analyzes the successful implementation of active learning, teamwork, and timely feedback strategies in a synchronous remote class. The second explores the impact of significant advisor interaction, metacognition, and career advising milestone achievement in a first-year advising program.

A light lunch will be served.
