Mr. John Muir:
Dear Sir-
I am encouraged to write you by Mr. William Keith who urges me to tell you that the "California Story of the Files" is now issued and being reviewed by papers East and West, most favorably. Your sketch and portrait therein appear - and possibly you may be interested to read of the others - as well as to add
to your library the only book of its kind. Mr. Keith was so pleased that he obtained one to read meanwhile because of its personal interest. I am not looking to those mentioned in the book to make it a success, as many of the writers are now dead, but none the less writing of preservation - it is to those who have libraries, and to public libraries that I look for the proper placing of the volume - the result of my many years hard work and compilation.
Very respectfully yours,
Ella Sterling Cummins.
