Dear Brown
I enclose you complete statement of the financial condition of the Lydia [our?] property. it shows a balance of $6790.28 if this is paid before July 1st there will be $38.66 to be deducted. that will leave $6751.62 still due. Now of course we would like to have all of this but if Mr Muir will pay $2751.62 it will leave a clean balance of $4000.00 against the property, which can run for another year or two years if he so desires. I would like to have it done before July 1st as I want to go back West by that train, and I will have to attend to the matter as my father leaves all of his affairs to me. but he wont allow me to carry it any longer. Now about the [Bridge?]. Waddell says we can’t do any thing for less than a thousand dollars and I agree with him, it is of the utermost importance that we do this work at once, [& we have our right under our?]

chapter and it will be impossible for me to furnish any money now as I am absolutely burndened to the very gu[illegible] now. I suppose you have heard of [illegible] collapse but some of his condition on here looking up his [affairs?] [illegible] [Maple?] Leaf [Road?] may take hold of his franchise for a bridge there in connection with the [other Belt line Co.?] I haven’t seen Fonda since my return but expect to tomorrow then I can tell what has been going on in the Rail Road world here if you can possibly raise the money do it by all mean or I fear we are [gone in our charter for good and all time let me hear from you at once about both of these matters?.]
