Mr. John Muir. Martinez, Cal.
My dear Sir:
I am about to publish a paper on the existing glaciers of the West and venture to ask if you can send me copies of the papers that you have published on the same subject. If you cannot send me copies of what you have published can you furnish me with abstracts or references

I shall include in my paper a notice of every thing that has appeared on the subject and as you are the father of [many?] of the Sierra glaciers so to speak. I wish to include all that you have written. Trusting that you will favor me at your earliest convenience
