he sold his property there last fall – and for him to go back there seems to me to be quite absurd I would be glad if Emma could spare time to write to me sometimes – I love to know how all the children are getting along, as well as yourselves – So goodbye hoping Gods blessing will ever rest upon you all

Dear Danl

[illegible] has a kind providence spared us all another year – and I do heartily congratulate you on the return of your birthday and hope that many happy days and years are still in store for you. The curran scones are not forgotten. I am glad to know by you last letter to me, that you were all well I expect Anita has grown so tall that I would hardly know her – and Hattie too –

- and Sarah and Mabel are following up to the others I hope they will all be spared to be a comfort to both Emma and you – Emma will have many cares and anxieties both by day and by night concerning her little ones but how quickly times and seasons pass away almost before we are aware Portage is a very busy place this summer unusually so – all kinds of business seem to be prospering prices generally are much higher than usual except dry good” They remain about the same as they have been

I have just been to see Davids home since it was finished, it seems very comfortable and convenient, they are all well as usual, Carrie expects to graduate along with 18 others tomorrow evening Where our old house was sold I did not anticipate there would be so much difficulty in finding a suitable location nearer the business part of the city but one has not been found yet I like the house I am now in, although we are rather crowded. The location suits me very well A letter from Joanna tells us they are all well – but father thinks he would like to go back to Hamilton —
