My dear Cousin,
Very many thanks for your kindness, in sending me your beautiful Book "Mountains of California" I am very pleased to have it. & have read a good deal of it already. You do give such a delightful description of your lovely country. Mountains flowers & trees. I quite long to see it. Perhaps I may some day. I'll live in the hope any way

I enclose you my Photo: it will perhaps recall to your remembrance "the last of the Gilryes" as I am known in the family circle. I hope to get to Dunbar at Christmas for a day or two. They are so pleased to have received this Book safely.
We have had no snow or frost here yet, but so chill & foggy. I hope you are all well you are always busy, I know.
With [much?] love to Mrs. Muir & you all & again thanking you kindly for remembering me.
Believe me your
