Martinez, Nov. 5, 1894.
My dear Mrs. Carr:
I take pleasure in sending you with this a copy of my first book. You will say that I should have written it long ago, but I begrudged the time of my young mountain-climbing days.
We received your note and newspaper clippings and the Muir peak. I left Mrs. Muir to answer it, but suppose she has not.
I am at work on another book. And in many ways am very busy.
We are all well. Wanda is a woman and considerably taller then her mother. Helen is very smart and may write some day. I told a Mr. Drake of the Century Magazine to call on you a week ago. He is to be in Pasadena two months.
With kindest regards to the Doctor and the boys,I am,
Cordially yours,
John Muir
