Dear John Muir
If you knew how many times today the thought has pleasantly recurred to me that you have got a book finished and sent east you would admit my right to take a front rank among congratulatory friends.
I have talked it over with john Lewett and with your sister--Mrs. Reid--She says there are five to follow which is good news for the reading public.
I mean to buy two copies:

one for myself and one for that cousin of mine in Lynn who is an admirer of your writings. I am about to write to her and if I knew the title of the forthcoming work I should be sure to announce it a little ahead of the papers.
John says that you are in good health and spirits and that you may continue so till the whole series is finished is the benediction of
