[Miss] Louisa Strentzel Miss Atkins Seminary Tuesday evening Alhambra 16/9/62 My dear Louisa After duly [maliring] our judgment upon the unlady-like conduct of Mrs. Atkins in her intercourse today with your mother—we have concluded—that on the receipt of this, your connection with Miss Atkins School will cease. Pack up immediately your books & trunk to have them ready for Mr. Perkins when he will call for them in the evening. Yourself will return home to morrow on the 10 o clock boat. Do not forget to bring your diary. I hope that in this trying hour, you will know how to deport yourself with propriety, like a good conscientious girl. Take affectionate leave of your teachers, thanking them for yourself & in my name for the care & interest they took on your behalf. Yours affectionately J Strentzel Turn over We will explain to you the reasons when you return. Recollect your napkin ring Wednesday morning On the receipt of this, call on Miss Atkins & tell her that I have [directed] you to leave the school . And proceed as above. I expect you on the 10 o clock boat.
