My dear Sir

Enclosed I send a letter of introduction from our common friend Dr. Asa Gray of Cambridge. I hope to be in San Francisco about the 12th or 13th of this month, and should much like to [illegible] across to see the University at Berkeley, in the hope that I [pray find you and some of your colleague there then?]. I have unfortunately only a very short time to spend in California, as I am [obligated?] to return soon to the Eastern States, but trust to see some of the learned men of your University before leaving. Believe me to be Faithfully yours

[J.?] Bryce.
