Forty minutes after the time for the Martinez boat + train. I would have liked very much to have been present at the funeral as would Mrs Magee also. She asked me yesterday to write you + express on her + my behalf our mutual sorrow at your loss. We both regret that we did not have an opportunity of knowing more of [the Doctor]. We both appreciated him. [ ] in the best sense. Please express to Mrs Strentzel our sincere regret at her loss + with full sympathy to yourself + Mr Muir I am Yours very [Thos] Magee
