Martinez, Aug. 28, 1914Dear Osborn friends: it was delightful to get your long bright love letter showing forth all the blessed happy family and Castle Rock life. You at work in leafy Woodsome Lodge revealing man's lang syne Virginia in dear auld Scotland, Perry bravely climbing the Alps of the Law, Lochinvar Fairfield on his adventurous bridal raid, lovely Josephine in cool Canada and the wonderful mother with all the family in heart guiding cheering keeping altogether in divine glowing love. From the first Wing-on-Wing days to those of Castle Rock I have never ceased to wonder that you adopted this wanderer as one of your family and thus coloring all my after life.I've just returned from a short stay in the Shasta pine woods, and of course I'm better. That I may see you all ere very long is most joyful. With all good wishes, Ever your devoted friendJohn Muir05831
