Martinez, July 31, 1914Dear Mrs Arnold-I am very glad to get tidings of you after so long a silence The plant you sent is a polygonum or eriogonum of which there are many species The specimens you forwarded by mail were very dry and crushed to scraps & dust- so I can't make them out without infinite time.Send carefully pressed specimens to Miss Eastwood who is familiar with all the big family.With best wishes & hoping to hear from you again ere long I am faithfully your friendJohn Muir05807
