Apr 1 14[letterhead]1523 Willow Street.,Alameda. Cal.Mr. John Muir,Martinez, Cal.Dear Sir:I do not know what handles rightfully belong to your honorable name, but I do know that you are a member of the "California Writers' Club" and that every one of us is debtor to your kindness, and proud to be your debtor.05718
2You may not remember, but many years ago my husband, Col. P. [J.?] Dickinson, and I met you in the Yosemite. He has passed to the majority and so cannot recall to you the delightful hour you so kindly gave to us; but I am here to live it over again and to say: I thank you! Many delightful messages were given to me, by the Club's Board of Directors, to pass on to you, but I have been unable to do so until to-day. But I[3]assure you that every one of us feels a little quickening of the pulse when your name is spoken, because, now, you belong to us! We honor and we love you- as w honor and love all great souls who bless us by their deeds, and, by example, help us into holier atmosphere.Sometime you will come to us, perhaps, and we shall take your hand in happy greeting and - - and - - say things.Yours sincerely,Hester A. Dickinson.4=1=1914
