CharlotteStanford UniversityMonday noonDear friendSince I wrote you last Thursday we have decided to ask in a few friends next Wednesday evening partly because it is our 5 year week (Think of it, we are 5 years married!) partly because we like to welcome them in our new home before shutting it up to go to05341

Carmel, and ostensibly to say good-bye to Mr. and Mrs. Woodward who are leaving for London! There, isn't that sufficient excuse for making a sandwich and brewing a cup of coffee? The whole point of this information being that we would love beyond words having you surprise yourself and everybody by being present! Couldn't you and then stay on for a little visit? We are promised to go to San Francisco Thursday night, but you could stay quietly here and read or work and we would be back before you woke up in the morning. This party needn't frighten you too much because we have asked only about twenty or twenty-five people--all very nice!Put your papers in your bag and come along down.ToujoursCharlotte
