Martinez Dec 22, 1912 Dear Miss Kellogg: With all my heart I wish you a happy New Year. I’ve been in Berkeley three weeks with a typewriter getting Alaska notes copied and am now at work on them in my lonely old den. Of that better den we spoke of to stand near your home on the hillside I think and dream every day. But moving such a lot of old and new things especially before I have all my notes duplicated seems a desperate job. The best thing about the trip to the next world is there will be no baggage to bother about. How is your little book coming on and your school. All well I hope. May the New Year be truly good to you. Ever your affectionate friend John Muir
