[in margin: Goding]AMERICAN CONSULAR SERVICEMontevideo, Uruguay, Dec.7/12.Dear Mr. Muir:Please accept my sincere thanks for copy of your "Yosemite," which I have read with great pleasure. No could write such a description unless he loved the place; and the description of the valley on page 8 is one of the finest word pictures it has ever been my pleasure to read. The whole book is a continual series of happy surprises too facinating to leave until the last page has been reached. The copies sent in my care have been delivered to Mr. Conard, and to the Legation, awaiting the return of Mr. Grevstad. Mr. Conard is more than pleased with the books.I sincerely trust that Mrs. Sellers has fully recovered ere this; when you again meet her please pass to her my kindest regards and best wishes.Your visit here will always be one of the pleasantest recollections of my life; and I can only trust that a similar experience will again fall to my lot. Most sincerely yours,Frederic W. GodingHope to receive your "Recollections."05314
