Garrisons, N. Y., July 14, 1911. My dear Mr. Marshall: Many thanks for your promptly sending me the maps and for your kind wishes for my Amazon trip. You must be suffering with the heat down there. We have been very hot also but I am comfortably located In Prof. 0sborn's place about a thousand feet above the sea, over-looking the Hudson and surrounded with a close growth of trees. I have been hard at work and am still working on the Yosemite Book but many interruptions causes very slow progress. Still I hope to get the thing off my hands before
go South. I expect to sail direct for the Amazon August 15th and wish you could go with me. Quite a number of my friends say they would like to go but they cannot. I seem to be the only one free, but heaven knows. I am tied up pretty hard now about the printing of books. I hope you will get out to your mountain work, hope indeed that you have already gone and escaped the dreadful heat of the last week or so. It is now cooler here. Give my love to Mrs. Marshall and the blessed children when next you write to them, and with all good wishes, I am as ever,Faithfully your,[illegible]
