Stanford University17th January 1911Very dear John MuirThe engraver has the inscription and it will be only a few days before Charlotte Jean has her plate. and I hope not long before you see her with it.Your letter with the04941
added gift all cosily tucked inside followed the inscription one. Thanks and thanks again. It came for her very important six months old birthday. Now that the sun has come back we may get a new picture.I am on my way to hear one of the lectures of the "Peace" course that Doctor Jordan is giving. He hasan assistant who presents the historical side, that is what happens this morning. And I can hardly leave "Marie Claire" that quite marvelous little book by the French dress maker Marguerite Audoux. The freshest, most perfectly written account of her early life. You would love the pictures she gives of her impressions of rain and trees and sheep and things. Is Helen still with you?Much love always from yourKelloggs
