Martinez, California Sep. 23, 1909 Dear Mr Newton: Many thanks for your kind remembrance which doubtless will arrive soon and serve to keep your pleasant visit in mind. Your good mother I shall never forget. I remember her features as well as her kindliness as if all the long years were obliterated. Trusting that Mrs. Newton and the children are with you again and that the Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest were enjoyed under most favorable auspices, I am faithfully yours John Muir
