[letterhead]September 10, 1909Mr. John Muir,My dear Mr. Muir:-When I called upon you last June I had no thought of the sacrilege of writing you up, but after I come away it seemed too bad not to make a note of my most delightful call and its impressions. Before sending it away for publication I want to get, - not your blessing upon it, for I fear that might not be granted - but [lake?] sure that I am not [illegible] you or your kindness in any way. If after looking the ms. over you will return it in the enclosed envelope I shall take it as as an indication that you do not absolutely reprobate the article.Thanking you again for the pleasure I received from my call I am, my dear Sir,Most sincerely yours,John W.
