Home, Aug. 27, 1909Darling Helen:I'm glad you are getting through the hot weather so comfortably. It has been very hot here with north winds for more than a week & I feared you were suffering.Wanda went to the redwoods near Felton yesterday to be gone about a week. She wanted a cool rest beyond call of so many babes She left 3/4[ths?] of them behind - taking only J. M. H.. Mrs Hanna & a nurse are caring for the others. The twins are thriving, so is their mother who is now longing to get them home to her own bosom.Be careful to avoid the direct sunshine in the hottest hours. Soon I hope to send grapes. They are ripening fast. Ever your devoted fatherJohn Muir
