[4]Sunday is Marian's only free day n[illegible]. Suppose we go over to your "little tawny valley" a week from n[illegible], Sunday, the 29th if it suits you?Let us have a line from you, and tell us what time the train leaves the city, which you would expect us on.Yours everKatharine Hooker[1]3633 Jackson St.Aug. 19. —My dear Mr MuirI was very glad to hear from you and to know you [were?] safe at home after your visit, and that you found Helen both well and happy. I have some news 04565 [2]to tell you about Marian and me. It was being discussed - this news - while we were in the mountains, but now the matter is quite settled. I am to spend this winter here in San Francisco, with her. When I got back here we began the search for a shelter and have taken a flat two blocks east of[3]the college, where we expect to settle ourselves in two or three days. The address is 1435 Willard St. Marian needs me more than anybody else just now, and though it is hard to leave Los Angeles for so long, it seems best for me to do it.
