Lake Merced July 9, 1909Darling Helen: I hope you are well in your dry desert. It is so cold here this morning we are all shivering & seeking places at fires. We are at breakfast 175 of us, what a jolly sight most of the girls know you & make kind inquiries for you. This is one of my favorite camps grounds of the auld lang syne. & It is delightful to revisit it. O the beauty & charm of the floods of living water We are going to the Tuolumne Meadows from here straight across the mountain I often think of your mountaineering days & wish you here, leading all the climbersFrom the meadows we go to Hetch Hetchy Until the 23d my address will be Yosemite Care Sierra Club Good bye darlingJohn Muir
