449Martinez, Cal. June 4 1909449Houghton Mifflin Company:Dear Sirs, The American field & forest book is all right. As to the autobiography there's nothing doing worth mention. Last summer I dictated a few hundred pages of rough notes forming only a scrawny confused beginning. no part of the book will be ready for publication for years. The Yosemite book & perhaps an animal book may be published before the auto—Here is the latest information obtainable from the Interior & Agricultural Departments on the national forests, parks & monuments. I have indicated the parts to be used. This seems to me enough. But if you consider Mr Chamberlain's statistical matter better then use it all or part of it.Please send me a few copies of Stickeen to give away Faithfully yrs John Muir
