1909Martinez May 12, 1909Dear Mrs Hooker,I'm back again in the old home busy clearing my desk & brooding old manuscripts after getting John Burroughs & Company safely through the Yosemite trip & off for Honolulu. It was fine fun to watch Johns face so dreamy & philosophic while interviewing E Capitan & T[illegible]& the snowy booming falls. The trails are still snowblocked, therefore I was unable to get him high enough for a view of the summit peaks but a ten or twelve mile walk to the Nevada & Vernal falls was enough in the way of climbing to astonish his weary legs. All the Upper Merced & Tuolumne region will be glorious this summer & surely you must see it, & so must the blessed M D & the Pagan. Give them my love & believe me ever faithfully gratefully yoursJohn Muir
